Tim Stevens elected to Oxfordshire RFU President

OURFC is incredibly proud to announce that Tim Stevens has been elected as President of Oxfordshire RFU. Tim will serve as president for the county for 2026 - 28.

Tim's rugby journey began aged 11 at George Abbot School in Guildford, having previously only known football at primary school. His rugby master for the next 7yrs was Mr Butterfield, a Loughborough graduate who inspired him to enjoy the game & embrace its traditions & values. Whilst at George Abbot he was very fortunate to end up captaining the 1st XV in his final year, but also playing for Old Guildfordians 3^rd XV on Saturday afternoon’s & Guildford & Godalming Colts on Sundays!

On leaving school Tim studied Sports Science at Brighton Polytechnic & played three very enjoyable years for local club Eastbourne RFC, cementing his love for the game in a social yet competitive environment.

In January 1984 Margaret and Tim moved to Oxford for work opportunities & a ‘sliding doors’ moment introduced them to local rugby legend and former Blues coach Lynn Evans who employed Margaret at Peers Sports Centre & encouraged Tim to join the local club he founded 8yrs previously, Littlemore RFC. Tim went on to p;lay 352 games for the club, spend a year as Captain & go on to serve as President for 25yrs!

In 2002, again thanks to an introduction by the aforementioned Lynn Evans, he was appointed Club Administrator at Oxford University RFC, progressing to General Manager where he remained until his retirement in August 2023. Tim is still heavily involved in OURFC, attending matches regularly, stadium announcing, hosting pre-game dinners and working on the recruitment sub-committee as well as heading up the alumni network.
