Vacancies at OURFC for the 26/27 Season

Updated: 1 day ago

As we look toward the 2026/27 season, we would like to invite you to consider these opportunities for getting involved with OURFC across many different areas of our operations.

OURFC is in an exciting time, growing in success on and off the pitch. We are adding an additional full-time member of office staff, taking us to five, to support our growing breadth of functions, and are recruiting for more coaching staff to further support our high-performing representational sides. Please see below for a full list of opportunities to get involved at OURFC in the 2026/27 season.

OFFICE STAFF

Technical Director (Full Time)

OURFC is in a period of continual growth and development, and we are hiring for a Technical Director to be a central part of delivering high quality experiences at the Club for our players, supporters, visitors, and venue hire clients. A new role in the organisation, we welcome candidates to shape this role according to their skills, experience, and interests. You will be responsible for operational success across many areas of the club, so ideal candidates should have a keen eye for detail. You will also help set our strategic direction for key functions (Blues home matches, The Varsity Matches, alumni relations, etc), so we are looking for a fantastic problem-solver who is good at big-picture thinking.

Applicants should write a one page cover letter, stating why they would be a good fit for the role and send to admin@ourfc.org. Terms of the contract are to be discussed at the point of offer.

Operations manager (full time)

OURFC is in a period of continual growth and development, and we are hiring for a Operations Manager to be a central part of delivering high quality experiences at the Club for our players, supporters, visitors, and venue hire clients. You will sit beneath the Technical Director, working in tandem to deliver operational success across functions of the club: you will be the engine room, upon whom all your colleagues at the Club will depend to be able to fulfil their roles. You will be centrally responsible for making rugby happen at OURFC: keeping track of player data, booking all the peripheral services needed for home and away matches, managing the gates and the crowds at home matches, creating programmes, and keeping our supporters up to date with fixtures and results across our six representative teams.

Applicants should write a one page cover letter, stating why they would be a good fit for the role and send to admin@ourfc.org. Terms of the contract are to be discussed at the point of offer.

Coaching

We have a variety of positions available within our Men's, Women*s, and college coaching programmes for next season. There are opportunities across all six of our representative teams, and 25+ college teams. Please fill in this short form, if you would like to be considered for becoming a coach at OURFC next season. All coaches receive their OURFC kit and post match meals, as well as coach CPD through working with coaches who have coached and played within the professional game. All roles are either volunteer or expense based renumeration.

Men's teams: You will help Head Coach, Ian Kench, with planning and delivering coaching and have the opportunity to become part of the matchday experience at Iffley Road, meeting the many world-renowned teams the Blues face under Friday Night Lights. The fixture schedule is filling up with international and Premiership teams for a year full of exhibition games, culminating in the Varsity Match. The Dark Blues are a unique team, with generations of history and accolades creating an environment which spans across the student and professional game. The Men*s Greyhounds (2nd XV) and Whippets (3rd XV) are also looking for additions. These teams also sit outside of BUCS, creating an opportunity for all OURFC members to play matches against adult and touring clubs, including Championship and international teams. This year, all teams executed strong Varsity performances and are looking for coaches keen to build on this success throughout the upcoming season.

Women*s teams: Our Blues (1st XV) had a very successful year with Head Coach, Scott Hall, finishing fifth in their BUCS league (Premier South) and winning Varsity. With growing numbers across the Women*s program, we are looking for a coach to help with delivering high quality sessions, working closely with our players to learn and improve rugby ability week to week. The Blues play weekly in term time and face teams that feed Premiership sides, for example Bristol and Bath students who play for Bristol Bears and Bath Rugby. The team are excellent to coach as the majority of players first play rugby at Oxford and are incredibly receptive, keen to learn as much as they can, with several more experienced players from club and Premiership backgrounds adding value each season. The Women*s Panthers (2nd XV) and Pumas (3rd XV) are also looking for assistant coaches to support player development from the very beginning of their rugby journey. We are hoping 2026/27 will be the first season that the Pumas are able to field a team for a regular schedule of matches, so you will have a key role in making rugby accessible and fun to keep players coming back and bringing their friends. The environment is incredibly inclusive across the club, with many members of the LGBTQ+ community, and support of these players is non-negotiable.

Colleges: The college game is a central part of student rugby at Oxford with men*s and women*s teams clashing in their respective leagues throughout the year until they reach the knockout Cup competition - “Cuppers”. Several different colleges are looking for some coaching support, ideal for someone local who has a few hours a week available to coach a mixed ability group. Pay and hours are college specific. Please contact Mags Williams (cb@ourfc.org) for more information.

Refereeing

We are looking to add to our internal University Referee Society. Open to all abilities, we are able

to help you with your qualification if you are looking to start your refereeing journey, linking you with a mentor who will support you. College games give us great learning opportunities for ARing and refereeing, with an established pathway officiating university games.

If you already have your qualification and are looking for somewhere new to put your boots on, we’d love to meet you and get you set up to ref a few matches. We also have strong links with the Oxfordshire Refereeing Society and can facilitate membership.

Please contact Marged Williams (cb@ourfc.org) for more information.

Volunteering

Love the club and want to support us on gameday? Get involved as a matchday volunteer! Join a close-knit group of OURFC stewards, who welcome all our supporters into the club on matchdays, checking and selling tickets, directing cars to parking spaces, and helping our visitors find their way around the club. This is the perfect role for someone who loves to be a friendly face and make matchdays a brilliant experience for first-timers at OURFC and veteran supporters alike. Email admin@ourfc.org if you would like to be involved.
