Women*s 2nd & 3rd Varsity Matches | Sunday 22nd February

Ahead of the Varsity Matches at Stone X on Saturday 28th February, Iffley Road will be the scene for back to back showpiece Varsity Matches for our Women*s 2nd XV (Panthers) and 3rd XV (Pumas). Tickets are available online here as well as on the gate on the day. The pavilion bar will be open with France v Italy showing on the TVs.

The day starts with the Pumas kicking off at 12:30pm against their Cambridge counterparts the Jaguars. After a heartbreaking defeat last year, co-captains Sammi Shapiro (Pembroke) and Louis Vieira (Oriel) have picked a 23 strong squad to take to the hallowed Iffley turf. The strength in the women's section of the club this year has been arguably the highlight of the OURFC season. Every Monday we see over 70 players training regularly and developing their skills alongside the more seasoned Blues players.

Following the Pumas, the Panthers take on the Tigers with kick of at 3pm. The holders of the women's 2nd XV Varsity title will be seeking to ensure that the trophy stays with the OX4 postcode. This year the Panthers sit in 2nd in their BUCS league with just one game to go. Captain, Max Cook (Merton) has picked a team full of BUCS experience who go into their Varsity one a piece against their light blue opposition, having faced each other home and away in BUCS. In October over at Grange Rd the Panthers came up short 10-15, then in the return leg in January, the Panthers sealed a comprehensive 25-10 victory. This Sunday we will see who wins the all important Varsity match to take the series 2-1.
