OURFC Michaelmas fixtures and events at Iffley Road

Updated: Oct 3, 2023

The home fixtures and events held at Iffley Road for Michaelmas 2023 are now live and ready to put in the calendar. The season gets underway with a mouth watering local schoolboy clash between Magdalen College School 1st XV and St Edward's School 1st XV. The bar will be open from 5:00pm with Argentina v Samoa being shown in the pavilion. Other selected Rugby World Cup Matches will be shown in the pavilion so make sure you come down to the bar to watch these games in a fantastic atmosphere. The OURFC season gets underway in earnest with the Women's Blues kicking off their BUCS campaign v Brunel University, this will be the first chance to see squad in action after their victorious display last season against Cambridge in the Varsity Match. On Saturday 21st October, we open our gates to hold an open club day where all players, officials, coaches, volunteers and supporters are welcome to come down to Iffley Rd. There will be a mixed touch tournament and BBQ followed by the Rugby World Cup Semi-Final. The Men's Blues season gets underway with the visit of outgoing captain Tom Osbourne's new club Harlequins. Having the Premiership outfit come to visit, is a stern test to start the campaign but one that will be a fantastic occasion for all spectators at Iffley Rd.

On Wednesday 1st October we host our first double header of the season with the Women's Blues kicking off at 3:30pm v UWE, followed by the Men's Blues taking on the Welsh invitational team, Crawshays at 7:15pm. The Men's Greyhounds get their home campaign underway v United Hospitals at home on Saturday 4th November. Wednesday 15th November sees a huge double header for both the Women's and Men's Blues squads. The Women take on a strong Bristol University outfit in their BUCS campaign at 3:30pm followed by the Men taking on their second Premiership outfit of the season, with Leicester Tigers the visitors, kicking off at 7:15pm.

On Saturday 18th November the Mens Greyhounds take on an army Development XV kicking off at 2:00pm. On Wednesday 22nd November we have two fixtures for both Blues teams with Kick off times to be confirmed. Swansea University the visitors for the Women and the invitational touring team the Penguins, the visitors for the Men.

To finish the Michaelmas term we have two huge events. Firstly the historic Major Stanley's day, be sure to contact if you are interested in attending the corporate lunch. The day starts with the Women's Blues taking on their Major Stanley's counterparts at 11:30am. This is followed by the mens game kicking off at 3:45pm. The Major Stanley's day holds a special place in the OURFC calendar, so be sure to get the date in your diary early.

The final fixtures of the term are the showpiece to celebrate a special man. Tim Stevens retired as General Manager of the OURFC this summer. His contribution to the club is hard to quantify, hundreds if not thousands of OURFC members have the best memories of the club down to Tim's (Fez's) hard work over 21 years. Fez will be hosting a retirement party on Saturday 2nd December with two Ferret XV's set to challenge the Greyhounds and Panthers. Be sure to reserve the date now to come and celebrate Fez's time at OURFC.
