Every year we say goodbye to some fantastic OURFC stalwarts, who have given a tremendous amount to the club. These are ambitious, driven, articulate and high achieving individuals who we want to share publically with the OURFC community. The idea is to help them in their transition away from Oxford University and OURFC. In each of the click down menu's below you will see information about each of our leavers. If you or your network can offer employment, advice or guidance to these fnatastic individuals, it would be hugely appreciated.

About: | Looking to move into venture capital, private equity, or investment firms within the energy sector. No rugby. Locations: London, UK; San Francisco, USA; New York, USA, Singapore, Singapore; Sydney, Australia. OURFC: The Club has enabled me to develop strong problem-solving, objective-driven, and communication skills, whilst balancing multiple commitments (DPhil work, rugby, part-time job). Most importantly, it is given me the opportunity to become a team-player, working with team mates towards a commmon goal without compromise. The Club has given me a lot to which I am very grateful for! |

Teams represented: | Pumas, Blues |
College: | Worcester |
Course: | English Literature and Language |
About: | Interested in any kind of sports (mainly rugby) marketing, advertising, and communications. I would still like to play rugby. Would be happy to live in Twickenham, Richmond area, but anywhere in London or the north east. OURFC has founded my love for the sport and they have helped me grow from an amateur to a blues-standard player who not only chose to get involved with the playing side but also the committee aspects of the club. Interests outside of academia and rugby lie mainly in music (piano/singing) and literature (writing and amateur journalism) |
Michael O'Donnell #1321

Teams represented: | Blues, Greyhounds |
College: | Kellogg |
Course: | Sustainable Urban Development Msc |
About: | I recently completed my MSc in Sustainable Urban Development at the University of Oxford, following my undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and Management at UC Davis. I am currently based in San Francisco and looking to begin my career in roles connected to renewable energy, real estate, and project development. I am particularly interested in work that sits at the intersection of cities, infrastructure, investment, and the energy transition. Playing for OURFC was one of the most formative parts of my time at Oxford. The club taught me a huge amount about discipline, resilience, leadership, and the importance of high standards, both on and off the pitch. Being part of the Blues environment and contributing to such a historic club has shaped the way I approach challenges professionally and personally. It also gave me a network of teammates, coaches, and alumni that I hope to stay connected with long after leaving Oxford. I am currently hoping to build my career in the San Francisco Bay Area, though I would also be open to opportunities in other major U.S. cities if the right role came along. I am keen to continue playing rugby if the right club and opportunity fit with work, and I would love to stay involved in the rugby community wherever I end up. Outside of academia and rugby, I enjoy golf, traveling, and spending time outdoors and with friends. |

About: | I am interested in the civil service, as well as journalism, and media. I would like to continue playing a good standard of rugby outside of university. I am interested in living in London, although cities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Bristol also interest me. My time at Oxford and at OURFC has shaped me enormously - I’ve grown more confident in my ability to handle different situations and pressures - in both personal, academic and professional environments. Outside of my passion for rugby and history, I enjoy other sports such as cricket, golf and football. |
