Jasper Dix, Blue #1236, walks the Thames Path for The Brain Tumour Charity

“In the December of 2024, following a couple of epileptic seizures, I was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour which has a typical prognosis of 1-5 years. I had surgery on New Years eve and then the long road of recovery and treatment began. I finished treatment in mid-September.

Since then, I have been thinking about ways to make a difference and the idea of fundraising for the Brain Tumour Charity seemed appealing. The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. I would be grateful for any and all donations, which you can support here. Your donation will help them find new treatments, offer the highest level of support and drive urgent change.

I have also decided I would walk the Thames Path National Trail with friends and family and fundraise for TBTC along the way. You can follow me on Instagram to keep up to date with my plans for the walk here by following @jasperwalksthethames.”

Jasper Dix – Blue #1236

Introducing Jasper Dix

“Jasper arrived at Oxford and OURFC in September 2018 to read Physics at Oriel College. At Oxford Jasper went on to gain three Blues, starting in the second row on all three occasions, winning in 2018 & 2021, but unfortunately experiencing a narrow loss in 2019.

In 2018 as a Fresher, Jasper was taken under the wing of experienced 200 cap Premiership player George Robson and together they laid the foundation for Captain Dom Waldouck and his backs to seal a Varsity Match victory.

In his second year, it was a different story as Jasper and his fellow undergraduate in the second row Charlie Pozniak directly faced the formidable pairing of James Horwill (62 caps for Australia) and Flip van der Merwe (37 caps for South Africa)! Despite the best efforts of Jasper and the Dark Blues, the power of the opposition pack took its toll, and the Tabs secured a narrow victory.

For his final Varsity Match, Jasper was club secretary and took on the role of the senior second row partner alongside the younger Piers von Dadelszen, but together they helped to secure a commanding victory, this time uniquely in July at Welford Road the home of Leicester Tigers, as the Global Pandemic did its best to disrupt the world!

Jasper left his mark at OURFC not only on the pitch, with a record that will stand the test of time, but for his all-round contribution to the club which is incredibly proud to have his name on the Alumni list.”
