After an epic Varsity Match win, I was fortunate enough to end my season representing England Students vs France Universities on the 2nd of May 2026 at Kingston Park. The game followed a week-long training camp at RAF Leeming where we were generously hosted and players from universities across the country came together in a high-performance environment to prepare for the fixture.

The camp provided an opportunity for our squad to train, review, and bond throughout the week ahead of le crunch universitaire. Due to the limited time together, we followed an intense schedule, which was demanding but thoroughly enjoyable. Our reward arrived on Saturday, where we prevailed 55-42 over a strong French outfit. After going tit for tat playing them at their own joué, we finally decided to maul them over 3 times to secure England’s first win in this fixture since 2023, with my contribution coming off the bench in the 47th minute.
An immeasurable amount of gratitude is owed to the entire squad, coaching team, and wider family at OURFC as well as the support of Trinity College and the Sustainable Urban Development programme. Without your unwavering support and commitment to the Dark Blue, none of this would have been possible. Thank you for helping me achieve this.
YIDB,
Fergus Dick, Trinity College
