In their second home match of the 25/26 season, the Men*s Blues will take on Premiership giants the Saracens on Friday 17th of October at 7:15pm. Get your tickets here for Friday Night Lights at OURFC.
After a successful start to the season against the Eastern Suburbs, Jack Hamilton’s men will be hoping to capitalise on this momentum and success, as they take on a side that will prove a real test for the Men*s Blues.
The Saracens haven’t stepped foot on Iffley Road since 2010, in an exciting and high-scoring game that ultimately ended in defeat for the Blues. During the 2000s the Saracens used to be a regular fixture in the Men*s Blues calendar. In 2009, the Saracens visited Iffley Road and were faced with a tough Blues opposition, captained by Dan Rosen (#1103) alongside a starting XV that included Men*s Blues Head Coach, Ian Kench (#1128), it was a high-stakes game that saw the Blues fighting for victory on their home turf.

It was a close defeat for the Blues, 39-28, against a Saracens team that included future England and British and Irish Lions players, Jamie George and Owen Farrell.

With both teams looking to come out strong, and the Blues hoping to extend their winning streak, it’s sure to prove an evening of competitive rugby with determination shown on both sides; and with his feet now firmly on the touchline, Kench will be hoping to inspire his players to victory, capitalising on a gruelling preseason and a successful opening match. Come down to Iffley Road next Friday at 7:15pm and support the Dark Blues. Tickets available here.

StoneX Stadium, home of the Saracens, is once again the home of The Varsity Matches this season. On the 28th of February 2026, our Men*s and Women*s Blues will travel to StoneX to face Cambridge (The Other Place) for the 154th and 38th Varsity Matches. Get your tickets here now and come support the Dark Blues.
