arrived in Oxford in September 2003 and has subsequently lent
his incompressible energy to a variety of different fields
within Oxford life. Before coming to Oxford, Tone completed
a B.Comm in Law at Stellenbosh University, South Africa, whilst
he is now completing an MSc Industrial Relations and
HRM.
On the rugby field Tone has represented Western Province at U21 and senior level,
Stellenbosh 1st XV & Oxbridge. As well as being a formidable presence in
the 15 a side version of the game he is also a master in the components of seven
a side rugby, winning invitations to represent a Bristol select side and ‘The
Backstabbers’. It was in this form of the game that he tasted success in
the famous Melrose sevens when he rejoined Stellenbosh in their summer 2003 tour
to the UK. Tone won his first Blue in 2003.
Tone is also a ferocious fast bowler and was once a member of Boland’s
Provincial Cricket Academy.
On long away trips Tone frequently leads the rendition of
Kenny Roger’s “The Gambler” although it must
be said his knowledge of the lyrics far outweighs his natural
tenor ability!
“What lies in the past matters little,
what lies ahead matters less, it’s what happens within
that matters most”
